Entry 3: The Jelly of the Month

What’s “The Jelly of the Month”? Well it’s a blog I take part in where every month a subject is picked, and a group of artists create art based on that subject. I’ve participated in artists groups online before but never one like this where a subject is assigned. It’s fun. I like having an excuse to draw something I wouldn’t take the time to do other wise. I like analyzing the subject and getting at just what it is about it that is appealing to me. It’s also cool seeing what the other artists create on that same subject.
This month the subject is Muppets. I call this piece “The Great Gonzo and His Beloved Camilla” I did this the same way I did my self portrait, with gray markers that I then color in photoshop. I really don’t know what I’m doing on photoshop and I’m using a mouse on a very crappy surface. I would love to get good enough at coloring to color my own comics at some point. I see these sketches as a chance to give it a try and hopefully learn some things.

Check out the Jelly of the Month blog.

    That’s great. I love it.
Have you thought about getting a Wacom tablet? I got one about six months ago and use it every day. It speeds up photoshop work tremendously.

    • Hey, Dan. Long time. I’ve been checking up on your stuff every now and again and it’s looking good. You’ve gotten a lot better since the last time we spoke. I’m liking it.
Yeah, I’d like to get a Wacom, but what I really want is one of those Cintiqs. That would be sweet… Someday.
